Professional Fork CSU De-Creak Treatment
A creaking suspension fork can develop movement or noise around the crown, steerer and upper-tube assembly, commonly referred to as the CSU.
CJSuspension provides a specialist de-creak treatment for compatible fork assemblies. The fork is inspected, prepared and treated using a controlled workshop process intended to reduce or eliminate noise from the pressed interfaces.
The source of the creak must be assessed carefully because similar noises can also come from the headset, stem, axle, brake, wheel or frame.

What Is a Fork CSU?
CSU refers to the crown, steerer and upper-tube assembly of a suspension fork.
The steerer tube and upper tubes are commonly installed into the crown using pressed interfaces. Under repeated loading, contamination, wear or movement at these interfaces can sometimes create a clicking or creaking noise.
The noise may be most noticeable while braking, climbing, compressing the fork or applying force through the handlebars.

Accurate fault assessment
The Creak May Come From Somewhere Else
Front-end creaks can travel through the frame and sound as though they are coming from the fork crown.
Similar noises can be caused by the headset, stem, handlebars, axle, hub bearings, brake hardware, crown race, cable routing or frame components.
Before a CSU treatment is completed, the likely source of the noise should be checked carefully. Supplying the complete bike may make diagnosis easier when the source is unclear.

How the De-Creak Treatment Works
The relevant crown, steerer and upper-tube interfaces are cleaned and prepared so the treatment material can reach the suspected source of movement or noise.
The assembly is treated using a controlled workshop process and is then cleaned and inspected before reassembly.
The purpose of the treatment is to reduce microscopic movement and noise at a serviceable pressed interface. It is not a structural repair for a cracked, loose or damaged crown assembly.
Important repair limitations
A De-Creak Treatment Cannot Repair Structural Damage
The treatment is only suitable when the crown, steerer and upper tubes remain structurally serviceable.
It cannot repair a cracked crown, cracked steerer, heavily worn interface, bent component, enlarged bore or upper tube that is visibly loose in the crown.
If structural damage or unsafe movement is found, the treatment will not proceed. Replacement of the crown, steerer and upper-tube assembly—or replacement of the complete fork—may be required.

Results and Repeat Creaking
A successful treatment can significantly reduce or eliminate creaking from a compatible CSU interface.
However, a de-creak treatment cannot permanently guarantee that noise will never return. Forks continue to experience repeated impacts, braking forces, flex and contamination during use.
If the creak returns, the fork should be inspected again to confirm whether the original interface has moved or whether another component is causing the noise.

The fork may need to be partially or fully disassembled so the crown and upper-tube assembly can be prepared and treated correctly.
If the fork is due for servicing, contaminated or showing signs of additional damage, a lower-leg service or complete internal service may be recommended at the same time.
Additional servicing, seals and replacement components are not included in the CSU de-creak price unless specifically confirmed.

You can deliver the fork directly to the CJSuspension Queenstown workshop or send it from anywhere in New Zealand.
Clean off heavy dirt and package the fork securely. Protect the crown, steerer, upper tubes, lower legs, adjusters and axle interface from impact during transport.
If the source of the creak is unclear, supplying the complete bike may make diagnosis easier. Contact the workshop before sending a complete bike.

How do I know whether the creak is coming from the CSU?
It can be difficult to confirm without inspection because front-end noises travel through the frame. The headset, stem, handlebars, axle, hub, brake and frame should also be checked.
Is the treatment guaranteed to stop the creak permanently?
No treatment can guarantee that a creak will never return. A successful treatment can reduce or eliminate noise from a serviceable pressed interface, but the fork remains exposed to repeated loads, flex and contamination.
Can the treatment repair a cracked or loose crown assembly?
No. A de-creak treatment is not a structural repair. Cracked, deformed or visibly loose components require replacement or further specialist assessment.
Do you need the complete bike?
The fork can be treated by itself when the source of the noise is already confirmed. The complete bike can be helpful when the creak has not been accurately located.
Is a fork service included in the $250 price?
No. The $250 price covers the CSU de-creak treatment. Additional lower-leg servicing, complete internal servicing, seals or replacement parts are charged separately where required.
Can every suspension fork receive a CSU treatment?
No. Compatibility depends on the fork construction, access to the pressed interfaces and the condition of the crown assembly. Some forks may require replacement of the complete upper assembly instead.
What happens if the creak returns?
The fork should be inspected again to determine whether the treated interface has moved or whether another component is causing the noise.
Can I send my fork from outside Queenstown?
