HELM MKII Repairs & Custom Tuning
Compatible HELM MKII forks can receive damper servicing, stanchion scratch repair, steerer replacement, CSU de-creak servicing, custom tuning and complete-bike removal or refitting.
Cane Creek HELM MKII Damper Service
Cane Creek HELM MKII damper servicing for removable drop-in cartridges that are poorly performing through compression, rebound or lockout control. Worn or failed seals, damaged bladders or worn internal parts can cause these issues.
- Damper removed and inspected
- Damper stripped and cleaned
- Service seals and wear items replaced as required
- Fresh damper oil added
- Damper rebuilt and torqued to specification
- Damper vacuum-bled if possible
- Adjuster function checked
If the complete damper cartridge can be removed as one unit, it can be sent separately for servicing and custom tuning can be added at the same time. If not, damper servicing must be completed as part of a 100hr fork service.

Cane Creek HELM MKII Fork Scratch Repair
Cane Creek HELM MKII stanchion scratch repair for suitable damage to improve the sealing surface and reduce further seal damage.
- Damage assessed before repair
- Damaged area cleaned and prepared
- Scratch filled with epoxy
- Repair left to cure for 24 hours
- Once cured, epoxy smoothed and finished
- Stanchion sealing surface checked before use
General wear is usually not suitable for this repair, as the epoxy needs a defined scratch to bond to. We’ll assess the damage first and advise whether repair or stanchion replacement is the best option.

Cane Creek HELM MKII Steerer Tube Replacement
Cane Creek HELM MKII steerer tube replacement for forks where the existing steerer is too short. Bent or loose steerers require an in-house CSU assessment first.
- Fork inspected for damage before work begins
- Existing steerer removed
- Steerer bore cleaned and prepared
- Special retaining compound applied
- New steerer pressed into place
- Installation checked after assembly
- Steerer supplied uncut for final fitment
If you plan to send only the CSU for steerer replacement, please note that we also require the lower legs and axle. This allows us to check lower leg bushing alignment before and after assembly to make sure everything is correctly aligned.

Cane Creek HELM MKII CSU De-Creak
Cane Creek HELM MKII crown steerer units can develop creaking over time. Our de-creak service also includes checking and correctly sizing the lower leg bushings for proper alignment and reduced friction.
- Fork inspected for damage before work begins
- CSU inspected before work begins
- Lower leg bushings checked before service
- Crown steerer unit disassembled
- Surfaces cleaned and prepared
- Special retaining compound applied
- Professionally pressed back together
- Assembly checked after installation
- Lower leg bushings correctly sized and alignment checked
If only the CSU is sent to us for de-creak service, please include the lower legs and axle. These are required so we can check the bushings before service and correctly size them to the CSU after assembly.
If a complete new or near-new fork is sent to us, a $100 dismantling and reassembly fee applies.
If the damper is in good working condition but the air spring requires servicing, an additional $80 air spring service fee applies.
If both the air spring and damper require servicing, we recommend booking a 100-Hour Service + CSU De-Creak instead.
